Brandon Mitchener is a Brussels-based journalist and strategic communications consultant. He specializes in helping organizations, individuals and the public connect and make better decisions. A certified sommelier, he also runs a successful side business focused on wine tastings and occasionally comments on U.S. elections and politics in the Belgian media.
Brandon was born and raised in Michigan and Indiana and has lived in Europe for more than 30 years. He is American, French and Belgian, and speaks English, German, French and Italian.
A graduate of Wabash College and Columbia University’s Graduate School of Journalism, Brandon spent the first half of his professional career as a journalist for The Wall Street Journal, The International Herald Tribune and Dow Jones Newswires in New York, Frankfurt and Brussels covering economics, German unification, the European automotive industry and European Union politics and business regulation.
After that, for four years each, he led communications in Brussels for APCO Europe, in Europe, the Middle East and Africa for First Solar Inc. and Monsanto Corp., and the Brussels office of Instinctif Partners. He also led the European Business Aviation Association for one year. Since 2023 he has been a full-time independent consultant and occasional journalist focused on information technology, animal health and strategic communications training.
