FAWCO - US Liaison Bulletin spotlights RBT efforts of Tax Fairness for Americans Abroad
FAWCO US Liaison Johanna Dishongh has been informed by TFFAA Executive Director Brandon Mitchener that a draft political proposal published on October 1, 2024 has already been translated into what is called “legislative language” to modify the existing US tax code. It is now being vetted by tax experts on the House Ways and Means Committee and TFFAA experts before “scoring” by the Joint Committee on Taxation.
“Tax Fairness for Americans Abroad (TFFAA), a non-profit, non-partisan organization representing American citizens living outside the United States, is working closely with key members of Congress to introduce a draft bill for elective residence-based income taxation for non-residents of the United States before the end of the year.”
“TFFAA’s goal for the past year has been to craft a proposal that could be supported by both political parties in Congress… to ensure that a proposal that enjoyed the support of only one party would not be dead on arrival with members of the other.”
FAWCO is a global women’s organization.
